      Ramadan is such a special time for all of us. It\’s not just about the fasting; it\’s about what happens around the dining table too. Every meal we share with our children isn\’t just about filling our tummies. It\’s a moment to feed our souls, to pause and really soak in the gratitude and awareness of the moment.

      We\’ve been thinking about this and wanted to share some friendly tips and little nudges to help keep your family\’s meals this Ramadan not just healthy, but meaningful too:

      Suhoor – The Super Start

      Encourage a protein-rich suhoor with slow-releasing energy foods like oats, eggs, and nuts. Think of it as laying down a solid foundation for a day of fasting – akin to building a Lego masterpiece, where every piece is essential.

      Hydration is Key

      Keeping hydrated is crucial, especially for young ones. Encourage drinking plenty of water between iftar and suhoor, and you can even make it a bit of a science experiment – measuring out the amount they drink, much like a potion master in the making!

      A Rainbow on the Plate

      Use iftar and suhoor to introduce a variety of fruits and vegetables, making every meal a vibrant palette of colours. This not only ensures a range of nutrients but also brings a visual joy that echoes the beauty of our diverse ummah.

      Moderation and Balance

      The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advocated for moderation in all things, including eating. Share this wisdom with your children, encouraging them to enjoy their favorite treats in moderation at iftar, balancing between the dates and doughnuts!

      Learning through Cooking

      Get the children involved in preparing iftar or suhoor. It’s a hands-on way to learn about nutrition, maths through measuring ingredients, and even a bit of Islamic history – did you know the favorite foods of the Prophet (peace be upon him)?

      Scheduled Snacking
